In a period frame. A young man stepping
into an animal trap as he tries to get closer
to a beautiful young woman, sitting on the
bank of a river in the left foreground and
looking away from him, while the man's
companion stands behind him, wringing
his hands.

Winter
A man skating, holding a cane and waving
with the other arm to greet two ladies, who
stand with muffs on the right, while a man
beside them kneels to fasten his skates; a
little girl and another man among the
spectators and other skaters in the
background, size 37 x 27 cm. Published June
1st 1796 by John Fairburn 146 Minories,
London one of a set of four prints, based on
‘The Seasons‘ an epic poem by James
Thompson.

Summer
A couple are in a hayfield, the man sitting to the
left holding a glass beside a barrel, the woman
standing beside him holding a rake, a youth
gathering sheaves behind her and other figures
working the field and on a haycart in the
background. Hand coloured mezzotint with
some etching in a period Hogarth frame, 37 x 27
cm, published John Fairburn, 146 Minories,
London June 1st 1796, one of a set of four
prints, based on ‘The Seasons‘ an epic poem by
James Thompson.

right, the other kneeling and rubbing a
shirt, watched by a military officer who
stands with folded arms on the left. 1782

Camp-love her manual exercise,
A soldier drilling an attractive young
woman, tilting up her chin while she
stands shouldering a musket on the right,
mimicked by a monkey sitting on a music
book and holding a flute, with a dog and a
drummer boy, books and a vase on a
chest-of-drawers, a picture of a young
female archer and another of the 'Camp
of Winchester' on the wall behind. 1780

An unusual Droll, this is a record of an incident,
after Robert Dighton, published Carington
Bowles, Height: 36 x 25 cm. This has been cut
to print with loss of inscription and is a rare
example of Carington Bowles that is not
satirical.
