A John Skeaping design for Wedgwood, Tiger and Buck
This model has a Moonstone glaze, dated c. 1927, with
impressed and printed marks and is 34cm long.
John Skeaping (1901-1980) was a sculptor who produced
some designs for Wedgwood, his models are usually tactile,
concentrating on form and function rather than
ornamental detail as much of the porcelain models of the
period. He was married to Barbara Hepworthat the time of
this design. This really is a scupture in ceramic.
This is a very powerful and strong item when set in an
interior.
