Prints

Here are a selection of 18th century Drolls, so called for the humour in the prints. Many are coloured etcthings with either gouache or watercolour. They are all supplied in antique frames or sympathetic modern frames, all have been recently mounted using acid free materials. Click on the image for more details.

A sailor holding up his purse, smiling at a young woman he invites to join him and gesturing to left, while she smiles coyly behind her fan and follows; on a hill-top. 1781 Mezzotint with some etching Lettered above the image with the title and 'London Printed for R. Sayer and J. Bennett Map & Printsellers, No. 53 Fleet Street as the Act directs, 24 May, 1781.'
