A Scene from Don Giovanni. Here George IV is show as Don Giovanni,the title role in Mozart's opera, he is surprised by the sudden arrival of his wife, Caroline, as Donna Anna, who had recently returned to England. The scene is the wedding feast, at which a number of bare breasted women are present; on the left is Lord Castlereagh, playing the role of Leporello, who holds a long list of the King's female conquests. The caption continues ‘Don Giovanni by His M-y, Donna Anna by a celebrated actress, her first appearance on this stage these 7 years, Leporello by Derry Down Triangle, the other caricters [sic] by the Corps de Ballet. This was published by S. W. Fores, 23 July 1820, 16 Panton Street, London. Castelreagh to the left of the print, was called 'Derry Down Triangle' for his part in the 1800 Union of Ireland and Britain, for which he was considered by many to have sold his country out!
